Key timelines
Full details outlining the detail of the timing can be seen within the National flu immunisation programme 2026 to 2027 letter.
Pregnant women and children
Pregnant women should continue to be offered from the 01 September 2026.
As flu circulation in children normally precedes that in adults, the children’s programme should continue to start from 01 September 2026 or as soon as delivery and supply of vaccine allows.
Adults
The adult programme will commence from the 01 October 2026.
Note: Following clinical assessment there may be a small number of other adults who would benefit from vaccination from 01 September 2026. For example, for those who are due to commence immunosuppressive treatment (such as chemotherapy), having a flu vaccine before they start treatment would allow them to make a better response to their vaccination. GPs should use clinical judgement to bring forward vaccination only in these exceptional circumstances otherwise payment will not be made for adults vaccinated before October, in line with contractual arrangements.
The National Booking Service (NBS)
The public will be able to book COVID-19 vaccination appointments from 7 April 2026 for vaccination from 13 April 2026. NBS will remain open for COVID-19 vaccination appointments until 30 June 2026, (the last day for booking a COVID-19 vaccination appointment is 29 June 2026).
For COVID-19 and flu vaccination appointment there is a defined date range that calendars will be shown to the public. RSV vaccination calendars are available for the public year-round.
Additional information can be seen in the Seasonal Vaccination Provider Programme Guide.
