Community Pharmacy Seasonal Influenza Advanced Service Framework
Since 2020, the Community Pharmacy Seasonal Influenza Advanced Service Framework enables community pharmacies to vaccinate in the pharmacy premises, but also in other suitable locations, such as in the Patient’s home, a long-stay care home, a long-stay residential facility or community venues (e.g. community centres). The pharmacy contractor must obtain consent from the commissioner if they wish to carry out vaccinations off of the pharmacy premises.
The first formal inclusion of off-site vaccination locations – such as residential care/nursing home residents and staff in the home setting in a single visit – can be seen in the 2020/2021 Annual National Flu Programme letter, locations have exanded in the current Community Pharmacy Seasonal Influenza Advanced Service Framework under section 4.2 with the caveat that a pharmacy contractor must obtain consent from the commissioner if they wish to carry out vaccinations off of the pharmacy premises.
