Job summary

We are most often the initial point of contact for patients’ health concerns providing care consistent to a patient’s physical, emotional, and social well-being. Treating a range of common and chronic illnesses, managing long-term conditions to keep patients healthy.

Core responsibilities

Working four sessions a week and reporting to Practice Partners, Clinical Lead and the Practice Manager.

Role summary

The salaried GP will provide high-quality, safe and effective medical care to the practice population, working as part of a multi-disciplinary primary care team.

The role involves assessing, diagnosing and managing patients presenting with a wide range of acute, chronic and complex health conditions, while ensuring appropriate onward referral and continuity of care.

The postholder will work collaboratively with GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Pharmacists, Reception/Administrative staff and other members of the wider healthcare team.

Objective

The overall objective of the role is to provide safe, effective, evidence-based and patient-centred medical care, while contributing positively to the wider functioning, clinical governance and ongoing development of the practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive clinical assessment, diagnosis and management of patients presenting with acute and chronic conditions

• Conduct face-to-face, telephone and appropriate remote consultations. Manage patients with long-term conditions and contribute to chronic disease management

• Identify and appropriately manage patients requiring urgent or emergency treatment

• Make appropriate referrals to secondary care and other relevant services

• Act upon investigation results in a timely manner

• Prescribe safely and appropriately

• Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records

• Provide appropriate clinical advice, education and health promotion to patients

• Participate in clinical meetings, significant event reviews, audits and quality improvement activities

• Contribute to the development and delivery of practice policies. Maintain awareness of current guidance, recommendations and guidance

Clinical governance and professional responsibilities

Maintain registration with the General Medical Council and comply with GMC professional standards. Maintain appropriate indemnity arrangements.

Teamworking

The postholder is expected to work positively and collaboratively with all members of the practice team. They will contribute to a culture of mutual respect, effective communication and openness.

Requirements

• Ability to both work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Experience of working in a primary care environment
• Experience of providing home visits
• Minimum of 12 months as a salaried GP
• General understanding of the primary care contract
• Proven ability to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of own clinical practice
• Full GMC registration
• Performers List registration
• Appropriate defence indemnity
• Evidence of current validation
• Evidence of last appraisal
• Eligibility to practice in the UK independently

About us

The Practice currently cares for just under 9,000 patients with a team of three Partners, two salaried GPs, an ANP, two Practice Nurses, a Practice Pharmacist, HCAs and a mix of ten reception/admin staff.

We are part of East Elmbridge PCN, along with six neighbouring practices.

We are a training practice and delight in welcoming new students. We also hold monthly staff meetings, open to all staff, where we share information, ideas and news. We also provide the lunch!

Located in East Molesey, Surrey, with parking provided.

Situated near to Hampton Court Palace and the river Thames, with a wealth of cultural and social venues.
