Job summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced GP to provide maternity cover on a temporary basis from June. We are looking for six sessions per week for 6 months. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality patient care within a busy clinical environment, ensuring continuity of care during the maternity leave period. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise your clinical expertise and contribute positively to patient outcomes in a supportive healthcare setting. The position is paid and suitable for medical professionals with relevant experience in primary care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive consultations with patients, including antenatal assessments and follow-up care
- Manage a diverse range of medical conditions, with an emphasis on maternal health and general practice
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with clinical guidelines
- Perform clinical examinations, including anatomy assessments and vital sign monitoring
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care
- Document patient encounters accurately within electronic health records
- Provide health education and counselling tailored to individual patient needs
- Support public health initiatives, including screening programmes and vaccination clinics
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical imaging techniques relevant to primary care settings
- Ensure compliance with clinical governance standards and safety protocols
Requirements
- Fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and hold a valid licence to practise in the UK
- Proven experience in general practice, with additional expertise in maternity or obstetric care preferred
- Strong knowledge of clinical research methodologies and evidence-based medicine
- Experience working within ICU or hospital environments is advantageous
- Familiarity with public health principles, medication administration, and patient care across various settings such as nursing homes, senior care, hospice, or home care environments
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with patients of all ages and backgrounds
- Demonstrated ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively within a healthcare team
