I have been a GP in Surrey since 2002. I qualified at CXWMS (now Imperial College), London in 1998, then did a medical SHO rotation based at Kingston Hospital before moving to GP training in 2001.
After a brief stint as a locum, I joined a partnership in Woking where I stayed for 16 years. Whilst there I was the CQC Manager, QOF, Finance and HR lead. Latterly, I was also a locality lead and governing body GP at the CCG. Then, in 2018, I moved to take up a partnership closer to home but, due to circumstances out of my control, I did not stay there long.
Since then, I have worked predominantly as a locum GP and completed some short-term salaried roles, including in a dispensing practice. In January 2021 I started as a Medical Director at Surrey & Sussex LMCs which is now my main role, becoming Senior Medical Director in late 2024.
Alongside my GP roles I have had a portfolio of other roles. I worked as a Clinical lead for Cancer for the KSS Clinical Network and then the Surrey & Sussex Cancer Alliance alongside Surrey Heartlands CCG. I was partly funded by both Cancer Research UK and Macmillan in these roles. I am also a GP Appraiser and School Doctor at Guildford High School.
In 2018, I was elected to BMA Council. I joined the BMA South East Coast Regional Council shortly after starting on BMA Council and was elected to be their chair in 2019 for 6 years. I was initially elected to GPC via the ARM in September 2021, and have now held the East & West Sussex Seat since July 2022.
I live in the Surrey Hills and love walking my dog up Holmbury Hill when I’m not being the “mum taxi” for my teenage children.
