Key points for practice managers
Recent changes to national guidance have created uncertainty about consent and the role of non-registered staff in vaccination programmes. This page is intended to help practices understand how the different elements fit together and to support proportionate, defensible local decision-making.
There is currently no single mandated operational model. Practices are expected to use reasonable judgement based on their staffing, workflows and patient population. Further national clarification is expected and this page will be updated when it emerges.
A number of practices have contacted the LMC with queries about consent and the role of non-registered healthcare staff in vaccination programmes. This page brings together relevant national guidance and practical considerations to help practices think through the issue while national guidance continues to evolve.
