With the launch of the new Surrey Heartlands wide Locally Commissioned Services (LCSs) in 2025, there is now commissioning for Shared Care arrangements for children with ADHD. However, this is limited to prescribing and monitoring children who are under the care of Surrey and Borders Partnership (SABP) and have been initiated, titrated and stabilised on medication under the Specialist service already. This does not cover children under Right to Choose (RTC) Providers, or those under Private Providers. Currently, there is no LCS for Shared Care for ADHD for adults.
Purposes of the Letters
Given the information above, LMC advice remains that GPs in Surrey Heartlands should only enter into Shared Care arrangements with SABP under the commissioned LCS for children, and not with other Providers or for adults. These template letters have been developed to:
- inform patients requesting RTC referrals of the potential limitations of those services, and that GPs are not currently commissioned to take on Shared Care with these providers, and
- push back and reject requests for Shared Care with the Providers where there are no commissioning arrangements in place.
