Dr Emon Farrah Malik has been sitting on Surrey LMC since 2018 (Reigate and Tandridge constituency) and was elected as Deputy Chair in 2023.
Emon is a Portfolio GP and vocal proponent for grassroots engagement in general practice and campaigner for a strong primary-secondary care interface in East Surrey. Emon advocates for open, constructive and fair dialogue with representatives from all corners of the local system in order to drive forward change, as well as striving to promote voices from all across general practice, including non-Partners and also empower newer GPs and trainees.
Emon has experience as a Partner, Salaried, Locum and in Urgent Care, taking interest in sexual health, domestic violence, safeguarding, clinical governance, triage design and mentorship. Emon is a clinical lead at her local Federation and previously a founding PCN board member, interim deputy PCN clinical director and board medical advisor to First Community Health and Care. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Emon led local services for Hot Home Visiting, Hot Hubs and Vaccinations, consulted on the set-up of the Urgent Community Response Team and sat on the Surrey Heartlands COVID-19 Vaccination Clinical Reference Group.
Emon was named “GP hero of the month” and a “Top 5 GP hero of 2015” by Pulse magazine.
Emon is married with two children. She loves classical music, tennis and photography.
