In relation to Community Pharmacy, GP practices should have a monitored email to receive pharmacy information if GP Connect is not available or does not support the information pharmacies need to send. This does not have to be a new email.
In addition, changes are being made to align patient choice for pharmacy services with the existing arrangements for dispensing. In practice, this means that when patients are signposted to a pharmacy service, they should not be directed to a specific pharmacy or provider. GPC England is preparing further guidance for practices on this point, similar to the existing “prescription direction” guidance for dispensing.
