Grayshott Surgery are seeking a motivated GP to join our practice for 6 sessions a week covering a 10-12 month maternity cover contract starting in March 2026.
We seek to preserve the best of traditional family practice values with a willingness to adapt and modernise to ensure a continuing high standard of care to patients with a sustainable working environment.
We are a friendly semi-rural training practice of 12,300 patients with an established practice training module for new GP’s. We are also part of West of Waverley PCN.
We use EMIS/Docman 10
Clinical team includes
- 5 GP Partners
- 4 salaried GP’s
- 5 Nurses
- 2 HCA’s
- 1 Physician Associate
- 2 first contact physios
- 1 first contact mental health worker
- 1 clinical Pharmacist
Main duties of the job
As a salaried GP you will manage a caseload and deal with a wide variety of health needs in a Primary Care setting working individually and as a team to ensure a high standard of care for all registered and temporary patients.
- Annual Leave: 6 weeks pro rata
- Salary £11,500 to £11,900 per session (dependant on experience)
- Sessions: 6 sessions per week

Responsibilities
Clinical responsibilities
- In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including routine and on call surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
- Providing counselling and health education
- Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
- Collecting data for audit and QOF purposes
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
- Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
- In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care
Other responsibilities within the organisation
- Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety
- A commitment to assist the practice with the Quality & Outcome Framework, all enhanced services, etc.
- A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice
- Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation
- Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records
- Attending training and events organised by the Practice or other agencies, where appropriate
Requirements
- GP with unblemished GMC record
- Appropriate membership of a medical indemnity organisation
- Evidence of continuing professional development and education
- Current BLS certificate
- Effective time management
