Job summary
Ardingly Court Surgery (in Kemptown, Brighton) is seeking salaried GP to join our team.
We are a friendly inner city NHS GP practice in vibrant area of Brighton. We provide a positive working environment with a good work life balance.
This is a fixed term 6-month contract ideally 5 sessions per week, all day Tuesday, Wednesday Am only, and all-day Friday starting 12th November 2025. (They may be a possibility to extend beyond 6 months on a permanent basis, but this is not certain currently)
Salary £11,600 per annum per session (£58,000 pro rata).
Annual leave and study leave in line with BMA salaried contract.
Excellent administrative support from workflow team (review and code all clinical documents).
We are a GP training practice & have very active Primary Care Network.
We are GP practice of approximately 6500 patients. Allowing GPs to have a manageable patient list and continuity of care.
Our clinical system is EMIS, and we utilise Ardens templates to assist with data capture.
High performing QOF and rated Good for CQC.
Main duties of the job
- Provide high quality patient care
- Carry out surgery, telephone and video consultations and undertake home visits
- Liaise with other team members and organisations involved in patient care and respond promptly to queries
- Investigate and refer patients as appropriate in line with current guidance
- Deal promptly with results and correspondence
- Provide cover as required when other GPs are on leave
- Collect data for audit and QOF purposes
- Excellent communication with patients and carers
- Attend clinical, clinical governance and educational meetings
- Strong team player
- Strong collaborative working relationships with partners and all team members
- Effectively manage own time, workload and resources
- Attend required training events e.g. Practice Learning Events and feedback
- Reporting of Significant Incidents involving the practice

Job responsibilities
- Provide high quality patient care including prevention, screening, treatment, management of chronic conditions and health promotion
- Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line with current Practice protocols as well as wider guidance e.g. NICE
- Carry out surgery, telephone and video consultations and undertake home visits
- Speak and see patients promptly and in a timely manner. In order to minimise waiting times.
- Ensure appropriate follow up of patients
- Generate, check and sign acute and repeat prescriptions in-line with practice policy
- Liaise with other team members and organisations involved in patient care and respond promptly to queries
- Investigate and refer patients as appropriate in line with current guidance
- Deal promptly with results and correspondence, clearly communicating any actions that are required
- Provide cover as needed, for all of the above, when other GPs are on leave
- When providing care ensure the judicious use of resources and NHS funds
- Keep clear and contemporaneous computerised consultation notes and patient records to agreed standards and in-line with practice policies
- Collect data for audit and QOF purposes
- Prescribe generically whenever appropriate and in accordance with the Practice formulary, commissioning and national guidance Maintain high levels of communication with patients and carers to ensure effective delivery of care
Person Specification
Experience – Essential
- A vocational trained and accredited GP, preferably MRCGP Current registration with the GMC
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- IT proficiency and familiarity with primary care clinical systems (the practice use EMIS)
- Excellent time keeping
- Exceptional team player
- Good understanding of GMS contracting requirements and QOF
