This 5-day programme (plus Action Learning Sets) has been developed specifically for senior Practice Managers who are in a position to develop their leadership skills in order to be able to take on wider leadership roles in their networks and beyond.
Day One: 09/05/19 Developing Effective Leadership, Normandy Village Hall
Day Two: 30/05/19 Developing the Reflective Leader (also including the introduction of Action Learning Sets), Normandy Village Hall
Action Learning Sets (6) - dates and locations to be agreed within groups.
Day Three: 10/09/19 Strategic Leadership within the Context of Primary Care, Normandy Village Hall

CONTENT
Developing Effective Leadership
Participants will:
• Understand the value of models of leadership and know how to choose management behaviours and styles that add value to the organisation, but are also workable for you
• Appreciate the impact of ethics and values when developing organisations
• Define the impact of power, behaviour, and accountability when developing organisations
Developing the Reflective Leader
Participants will:
• Know the models of reflective learning, e.g. deep and surface learning, ACT, learning transfer, double loop learning, activity theory
• Use reflective learning as a way to maintain continuous improvement
Strategic Leadership within the Context of Primary Care
Participants will:
• Understand the benefits and challenges of working at scale
• Know the structure and politics within the NHS
• Be able to define the specific characteristics, values and culture of the NHS and their impact on the leadership role.
• Appreciate the opportunities for strategic development
• Understand the challenges to development and develop strategies for minimising the impact of challenges on stakeholders
Leading Change
Participants will:
• Identify the external/internal pressures for change
• Use tools, models and theoretical concepts concerned with managing change
• Assess organisational change and capability
• Determine the human aspects of change and the significance of communication, relationships, attitudes, values and culture in determining reactions to change
• Appreciate the nature and role of vision in the change process
Developing Leadership in Others
Participants will:
• Be able to coaching and/or mentoring colleagues using a range of techniques, eg: GROW model & discussion techniques
• Appreciate the usefulness of monitoring and review when delegating
